Spanish Sworn Translation for Government & Business Documents

Official translations prepared for corporate, financial, and regulatory use in Spain

Government and business documents cover a wide range of official purposes — from background checks required for Spanish visa applications, to financial records needed for residency or corporate processes, to child protection certificates required when working with children in Spain. What they have in common is that when submitted to Spanish authorities or institutions, they must be translated by a sworn translator (traductor jurado) officially authorised by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores). A standard or certified translation will not be accepted.

We translate the full range of government and business documents commonly required for official use in Spain, prepared to the standard required by Spanish consulates, authorities, and institutions. All documents are handled with strict confidentiality, processed securely in line with UK GDPR, and accessed only by authorised personnel involved in delivering the translation — particularly important for financial records and corporate documents containing sensitive information.

Commonly required for non-lucrative, student, digital nomad, and other long-stay visa applications in Spain. Spanish consulates use it to confirm an applicant’s criminal record status before processing a visa.

Required when demonstrating income, tax status, or financial history to Spanish authorities or financial institutions. Commonly needed alongside bank statements for visa applications and residency processes — particularly for self-employed applicants submitting SA302 tax calculations.

Required when a UK company is registering with the Spanish Commercial Registry (Registro Mercantil), completing notarial processes, or engaging in corporate and financial procedures in Spain.

Required when working with children in Spain — including teaching, childcare, and other regulated roles — where Spanish authorities or employers need to verify an applicant’s child protection status.

Why these documents require a sworn translation for Spain

Government and business documents issued in the UK cannot be formally processed by Spanish authorities, institutions, or business counterparties in English. Before they can be reviewed and relied upon in official, financial, or corporate processes, they must be translated into Spanish by a sworn translator authorised by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A sworn translation carries the translator’s official certification, signature, and stamp — confirming it is an accurate and legally recognised translation of the original. Without this, documents may be refused, returned, or held pending further clarification — causing delays in processes that are often time-sensitive.

All translations in this category are overseen by Ana Martínez, Lead Translator, who has 20 years of experience in Spanish sworn translation — including extensive experience with financial, corporate, and government documents prepared for official use in Spain.

A note on turnaround for government and business documents

Turnaround varies depending on the document type and length. Standard single-page documents — such as ACRO certificates and ICPCs — are typically completed within 1 to 2 working days. Longer or more complex documents — such as HMRC tax returns, Companies House records, or multi-page corporate filings — typically take 2 to 7 working days depending on page count and complexity. Turnaround is confirmed when we receive your document. If you have a visa application deadline, a consulate appointment, or a corporate submission date approaching, let us know and we will do everything we can to accommodate it.
